Veil? No Veil?

The more I think about it, I don't think I want a tradition veil, which brings me to the bird cage style veil. Do you like any of the above? Orrrr is it better to just have a cool flower? Should they be attached to one another or separate? Oy, vey I need help. What's your thought? I spotted these on Etsy.

Elizabeth Gilbert: A new way to think about creativity

I was taking a peek at the blog hooray, and found this amazing and inspiring video by Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat, Pray, Love. I agree with Elizabeth, sometimes being an artist can be a scary thing, and I find a certain strength and inspiration in her words, "Don't be afraid, don't be daunted."

Cookie Table

I'm flying off to Pittsburgh in the early morning tomorrow, so I wanted to say happy Friday a bit early! The reason I'm heading to my home town of "Da Burgh", is one of my dear friends from high school is getting married! I'm beyond excited to see old friends and be "home" for a couple days. It's been quite some time since I've been back, so I can hardly contain myself. One of the best things about a "Pittsburgh wedding" is the cookie table! I was shocked, and slightly aghast to find out that this is primarily a Pittsburgh tradition! All the women in the family are in charge of baking different cookies, often times personal specialties, for the cookie table. And the cookie table is in ADDITION to the desserts had with your meal, not in lieu my friend! Usually the table is overflowing with treats and there are more cookies than guests can handle during the reception, and many lucky guests leave with goodies to take home. Needless to say, even though our wedding won't be happening in Pittsburgh, I plan on having a cookie table. 110%! I hope you all have a lovely weekend, and I'll "see" you when I get back!

Dear Certain Glasses in my Cupboard

After spotting Thxthxthx on East Side Bride, I can't stop taking a peak and her hilarious (and very true) thank you cards. Again, I have to agree completely! My fiance has a "T" cup, and I have a "K" cup from Antropologie and it's just so darn fun to have coffee together with those cups! Here they are on shopstyle, (love this website!) Do you know it?! If not, you really really should!

Bridal thingie

My gal pal Sarah (who's getting married in December!) shared with me these great little robes to wear while the photographer takes pictures of you getting ready on the big day. To quote Sarah, "cute and $42 to boot!" I think I want one too! Maybe I'll wait until it gets closer to the wedding, but I keep seeing super cute things I want! Do you like it??

Spotted these on Cup of Jo today. How perfect are they?! Don't you just hate it when you're at a party and have your wine in one hand and food in another, and you can't eat or drink! Such a great solution! I want!

Party Time!

I am beyond excited that my family and close friends are traveling from far and wide to help my fiance and I celebrate our engagement this Sunday! Mom, Dad, and my favoritest cousin are en route! woooohooo! We're going to have a casual shin dig with pulled pork, beer, hush puppies, and MOST important CUP CAKES FROM SUGAR SWEET SUNSHINE! They hold a special place in our hearts; not only do they taste fabulous, but we used to frequent Sugar Sweet Sunshine quite a bit! Have you have ever had one? They're my fave and cupcake of choice! Hope you have a lovely weekend! More to share of the weekend's events on Monday!

I'm not a pregnant lady, but I play one on TV

No, I haven't been withholding information from you, it's actually a fake. Recently I was on One Life to Live and was preggers! It was kind of fun to put the bump on for a couple hours and then return it to the costume department. I must admit in this photo the pump doesn't look very believable, but on set everyone was asking me if I really was pregnant and wanted to have a seat. It made me laugh. My fiance is one of those weird men that think pregnant women are sexy, so I had to have documentation of the day to share. One day... just not one day soon. Momma needs another five years or so!

Thank you notes

I saw this thank you not on THXTHXTHX and it made me laugh out loud because I was thinking the exact same thing as I was using my vacuum cleaner this week. I think it might end up blowing up someday soon as a result. Check out her other funny truths and thank you notes here.

Dress help!

Morning lovies! Yes, it's still early. BUT I have organizational issues and must be on top of things as soon as humanly possible. I got my dress through Priscilla of Boston and I loved my experience so much I think I'd like to stick with them for my bridesmaid dresses. I've found two bridesmaid dresses that I'm in love with, but not sure which one to pick. OR do I let the girls pick between the two? OR do I let the maid of honor wear one style and the rest of the girls the other?? What do you think? One thing I am certain on is the light pink color. I think it's so flattering, don't you?!

I love you more than........

I love these cute little totes! They're great to use around the city for holding books, groceries, as a gift, whatever you want! My fiance bought me one last year for Valentines Day. Check out the totes and other cool things here.

omg.... shoes!

It's sick, sad, and twisted.... I know. I have a problem.... with .... SHOES! I think I was more concerned about the shoes I was going to get for my wedding than my dress! Needless to say I have scanned the internet for what I THOUGHT I wanted. Alas, it was the universe telling me I was wrong. I couldn't find my beloved blue and white shoe, because it was the WRONG shoe. Above, now that, that's the shoe! I'm in complete love with them. I pranced around the house in them when my fiance wasn't home, just to say hi and enjoy them for a bit knowing I can't wear them until next year. Sigh. It's love. If you want to fall in love with a pair of shoes visit here.

Award! yay!

Me accepting my award, and stealing the previous award winner's 10 seconds they didn't use! So I decided to take their time and thank my fellow cast members, director and writer :-)

I'm so happy to announce that on August 1st during The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity award ceremony I won an award for Best Featured Actress in a play for my roles as Susan and Kate in the play "Love Me"! I was so thrilled and excited to know that my peers enjoyed my work and performance! The award ceremony was a lovely night of performances, awards, and fun with theatre friends at The Player's Theatre in the West Village.

Eating, traveling, Eating... Did I mention Eating??

Eating is a huge part of traveling for my fiance and I. Well, it's pretty much just a huge part of our lives. While in Montreal we ate at some amazing places. If you plan on going to Montreal any time soon check out a few of the follow...

Salle Manger
Walking into this restaurant was very similar to an experience you might have at Inoteca in Manhattan. The restaurant decor had fresh clean lines, and the food reflected the vibe of the restaurant. Definitely in a young, hip part of town.

If you're a pastrami fan, you definitely need to make this a stop on your trip. I have to argue, one of the best pastrami sandwiches I've ever had. I know, bold statement!

Au Pied de Cochon
The amount of foie gras served at this restaurant was utterly ridiculous! Amazing, but ridiculous! I think between the two of us we had enough food to feed a small family. We sat at the bar and the gentleman sitting next to us was a chef from CT who flew all the way to Montreal just to eat here and flew right back after dinner! That's dedication to the love of food!

Pied de Poule
After a long day of biking Pied de Poule was everything we needed; good food and cold beers. I highly recommend the BBQ Cheese Curd! YUM.

If you'd like a quaint place to stay while in Montreal check out Bob & Mariko's Bed and Breakfast. We had a lovely stay that included breakfast in the mornings with fellow travelers, and close to great streets like St. Denis.

Have you been anywhere exciting or relaxing this summer??

(photos thepauperedchef.com, and me)

Ever have those times in your life where you get eaten by your calendar?? Well, it looks like that's exactly what happened to me for almost a month now! Fortunately, it was all for very good things that I have left you for a brief time my loves! I was lucky enough to be in the Midtown International Theatre Festival in a play called "Closure". And as a break from the marathon performing schedule (that I thankfully was on from May until August!) my fiance and I were able to slip away for a quick vacation to Montreal and Old Quebec City! I can't wait to tell you of my travels and share some fun things with you from the past month. Look for more posts verrrrrry soon!
What fun things have you been up to?! I'm dying to hear!
